A: Benefits of being a member of the National Honor Society include: receiving a pin, t-shirt, special graduation recognition, scholarship opportunities, and a chance to put it on your resume as it is a high honor to be a member of this club.⊱ ──── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ──── ⊰Q: How many service hours do you need?
A: Our chapter requires 10 community service hours by the end of the school year to stay in good standing and maintain membership.

Our mission is to empower high school students by recognizing their academic excellence and fostering essential skills such as leadership, service, and character. NHS aims to develop well-rounded individuals committed to helping their community through various service projects and outreach efforts. By promoting these values, NHS prepares students to be effective, compassionate leaders in their schools and beyond.⊱ ──── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ──── ⊰Goals
The National Honor Society has four primary goals.
1. Promote Scholarship: Encourage academic excellence and a lifelong love of learning.
2. Develop Leadership: Foster leadership skills and qualities in students to prepare them for future roles.
3. Encourage Service: Inspire a commitment to volunteerism and community service.
4. Build Character: Cultivate integrity, ethics, and strong moral values in students.

Below are listed the big service projects done during the 2023-2024 school year.PB & J Sandwiches
NHS members prepped 100+ peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that were donated to the Chattanooga Rescue Mission.Canned Food Drive
NHS held a school-wide canned food drive that collected 1,000+ items. Donations were received by the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.School Clean-Up
NHS members spent time after school cleaning our school's campus and collecting 10+ full bags of trash and litter.Recycling Program
NHS members implemented a school-wide recycling program aimed at helping teachers recycle more easily. Each teacher is given a box wrapped with paper and lined with a shelf liner. This box is placed in the classroom and is the perfect place for paper and used bottles that can be recycled! NHS members go around to these classrooms each week to discard the contents of the boxes into school recycling bins to help the teachers continue to recycle and not choose the trash can.Teacher Help Initiative
NHS members helped teachers with cleaning up and preparing for the end of the school year. Members did various tasks such as transporting furniture, organizing classroom items, and clearing out the teachers' rooms. This initiative helped a lot of teachers end the year off smoothly as the help was greatly needed. At the end of the initiative, members received extremely positive feedback from teachers and staff.'22-'23Reading to Kids
NHS members went to one of our local elementary schools and participated in Read Across America. Members read books to kids of all ages and helped showcase how fun reading can be!⊱ ──── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ──── ⊰More coming soon!
